I have heard of every band. I am aware of culture. Nothing slips thru the cracks of my mainstream, netstream, and altstream existence. Yes, I have heard of them. I have listened to their album.

‘I CANNOT believe these effin hipsters and swagsters!’
What did they want to portray?
Being an ‘all-knowing’ cultural connoisseur?
They want to believe they are at the center of the cultural world?

Is it ‘cool’ 2 know ‘every band’?
Or is it actually hella auth to ‘not know anything about current events/popular culture’?
Like do truly auth ppl not even know who the President is?
I really need 2 resculpt my world

Who wants 2 know every band?
Who even wants to see bands?
Who wants 2 read ‘music news’?
Why do we care about ‘newness’?

I have a question 4 u….
Have u heard the auth band?
They are totally not scaling.
Barely any1 even knows abt them,
nor will they ever appeal 2 the mass culture
It’s totally effed/pointless/chill.

Do u even know what auth is?

    This video is a cautionary tale to all u carles dot buzz readers out there. I think that we, just like these ppl, are victims of a narcissistic society that believes every1 is a special snowflake and the pursuit of that unique auth quality within ourselves is what lead us to be so averse to ‘mainstream’ and always diggin into the unknown, to the point of lying about it. Alas! In our quest to be chill and auth, we end up coming off as try hard and nauth. Are we ‘overthinking’ authenticity? Should we all just chill and enjoy whatever we want even tho it’s ‘mainstream’? idk, u guys… Sometimes I think we’re no better than this ppl.

      Good question. Yeah, we should. Just because we might indulge in some mainstream entities, like music, it doesn’t change who we are and what we believe in. As an Auth person, I like music that is aesthetically authentic, artistically honest and doesn’t try hard to scale. Just because I can recognize something that is completely manufactured, cookie cutter, synthetic or trying to hard (i.e. most scalable music) doesn’t mean I will write it off or maybe even think its pretty good. So I think part of being auth means not fitting a certain mold or being pegged this or that (i.e. jock, nerd, hipster, mainstreamer, etc) [via society, the media or culture experts]. I think being auth is staying true to yourself and just being yourself (i.e. not trying to be something you’re not to fit into a scene or a culture or a group). Auth is not phony. Auth is Authentic. I don’t think I’m special nor do I have to let everyone know how “special” I am because I’m auth. I’m secure and I know my true self because I’m honest. So fuck those people in the video for being dishonest and being nauth. So I say, listen to whatever you want. Who gives a fuck.

      But technically I am “special” tho.

        tl;dr. anyways, i think what we should take away from this is that its alright to say “no, i do not who (scalable indie-electrocore-pop) band is” or “no, i havent heard (scalable irish-influenced pseudo-folk-earnestcore-quartet) before”.

        led zeppelin is still my favourite band.

        how can music be “manufactured” and not created 2 scale at the same time ??

          It can’t. To me, manufactured means a couple of things. One, music that is put out in mass quantity, and has no artist value (i.e. EDM). Its sole purpose to make idiots dance and make money. Another is a pop or country singer, or a boy band that is put together, has others write their music and has a team that creates an image for them. Again, no artistic value, only there to make lots of money. My point was just because I listen to auth music, doesn’t mean I don’t listen to some mainstream music, recognize it for what it is but still dig it.

      i’m inclined to agree with john stuart mill in that we should value higher [auth/non-scalable] pleasures over lower [lamestream/netstream/mainstream] pleasures

      I’d say 95% of the ppl here are ‘hella depressed’, ‘not into anything’ and would describe themselves as being ‘auth’.
      On the other hand, I believe depression is just a concept of ‘sadness’ that was ‘scaled’ to the point of sickness by the pharmaceutical companies in order to sell meds. So, for its ‘scalabilty’ and for being architected by major companies, I’d say depression is not ‘auth’. Sorry.
