I feel the ups/downs of ‘creating content’ again. What ‘validation’ do I want? Do I have what it takes 2 ‘carry’ the auth scene?

    I think that ultimately indie/hipster culture “failed” because it was just a slightly niche pattern of consumption dressed up as cultural contrarianism and some sort of vague social movement; fueled by the endless narcissism of the social media age and the degeneration of our social relations into something that can only have meaning in the marketplace. “Look at me, I’m #changingtheworld one Tom’s Shoes purchase at a time.”

    When Hipster Runoff ended I felt ‘sad’ because even though Carles is searching for ‘relevance,’ Carles ‘is’ relevance. I thought relevance was over when Carles left. I didn’t want to create it myself. I just wanted to read his blog and find out what I should say to show people that I care about being relevant, and that I am relevant. Carles helped me stay relevant without having to do anything relevant.

    I’m really glad you’re here Carles. You’re my ‘nightlight.’ You’re my ‘safety blanket.’ I keep getting older, but as long as you’re here, I’ll always be relevant.

    I am an old goth who just went to coachella to listen to EDM shit. I made the mistake of moving to Montreal from LA. It is cold and miserable up here for 10 months out of the year. I will most likely move back to LA someday. Did I just waste the last five years of my life?
