JADE TV makes us feel alive.
Jade TV is a band from Grand Rapids, MI.
They currently have 282 FB likes.
Their Soundcloud songs mostly have under ~500 streams.
Jade TV has not scaled.
They are a ‘local’ band. Just vibing within the community of Grand Rapids.
I hope I get to see JADE TV one day. I feel like they created an aural aesthetic that makes me feel like there is a set of sounds that ‘understand’ me. Sometimes the sounds feel lost. Sometimes they feel hopeful. It feels like a set of sonic vibes that ‘get’ the human condition.
I think this is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.
So tired of my streams being saturated with sounds / aural textures that are meant to manipulate ‘dumb dumbs’ into thinking that they are ‘listening to the sound of now.’ There is no sound of now.
From what I have gathered on Google, JADE TV is by some chill Michigan bro named James Allen. They play in basements, and have a local scene hot spot called THE WITCH HOUSE. I am not sure if they play any witch house (the genre) there. Anyways, it seems pure & true.
I’ve been thinking a lot about why I still post about music. Discovering new music is important to me. I like hearing new things. My sound palate is evolved, and needs new sounds to feel ‘alive.’ I am not a repetitive consumer who ‘gets off’ to celebrating the 4th release of an established artist. Whether.
Auth is the pursuit of authentic novelty. Enjoying the first moments deeply. Holding on to them. Don’t forget how they felt.
Why aren’t scalable content farms posting about JADE TV? They can even use the approachable narrative ‘they sound like DIIV’.
Just wanna go to some basement/shit venue with only a few other people. Break free from the scaled, monetized vibe of music festivals. Connect with ppl who are making art for different purposes than ‘getting big’ / ‘ blowing up.’
Why does this one band from Grand Rapids, Michigan create a sound that touches me deep inside?
Is Grand Rapids, MI ‘the new Brooklyn’?
Remember ‘Brooklyn-based’?
Is ‘local music’ now the most auth music, except that there won’t be a national/international content farm to ‘scale’ it?
IS this ‘a DIIV rip off’ or ‘way better / more auth than DIIV’ because DIIV was created in Brooklyn during the 285 Kent / Glasslands boom in order to take advantage of connections 2 the Pitchfork-centric indie era?
Where will the next waves of ‘actually good bands’ come from?
Will they serve as a rebellion against Contemporary Conformist scenes?
Is Parallel Moments the best album of post-2k13?
Should we all just move to Grand Rapids, MI?
Where can we live an auth life, consuming & supporting auth artists?
Does JADE TV sound too real/dark for Contemporary Conformists to find approachable?
Would Contemporary Conformists go to a dark basement to listen to drone pop music?
Buy their cassette (totally auth move). There are only 100 in total. It is only $6.
Just want to use the internet
purposefully
to find something new
to support ppl creating vibes that I actually wanna consume
instead of ppl who cater to scaled content farm ‘coverage’
Who the hell still reads music content farms?
Do u have any good local bands in ur scene?
Will ‘connecting’ local scenes be the only way to incubate auth music?
How can carles.buzz serve ‘ppl who still desire a certain aural vibe’ of music?
JADE TV is so good.
We r auth.
Why do u listen 2 music?
What r u searching for?
Can we search 2gether?
Please post your theories on the internet / local music. How can artists feel ‘reinforced’ when they are ‘just a blurb’ on a music content farm? [via Scalability vs Creativity]
