STOP. You are NOT auth. Ughhh. Ppl kept emailing me about Win Butler’s brother ‘going effing solo’ and releasing a buzz album, [breaking free] from the shackles of the Arcade Fire. Then I watched the video, and it really nauthed me out.

I h8 when indie celebs ‘go solo’ and make high-produced Talking-HEads-wannabe art. Like I get’ why it is probably difficult 2 make, but at the same time, just not very in2 it… Seems ‘try hard’, which is why I prefer the chilled out approachable vibes of auth music. Not scalable, not dependent on indie content farm coverage. Not going to be purchased by indie dads who ‘think they are cool.’

So what is INAUTH [via inauthentic]?

Listen, I ‘get’ that auth might just be historical/cultural relativity, and there was a day when a pre-indie pre-Funeral era Arcade Fire. I ‘get’ that u need to spread your wings after dancing behind a keyboard [via ‘putting on a show and hamming it up’ even though u only had to play like 3 notes.]

It’s hard 2 emerge from the shadows of Win Butler… (and not just because of his weight gain)… I ‘get’ why maybe u liked the Suburbs and now ur forced 2 live in Canada against ur will [via rejecting the Woodlands TX]. But I just want every1 2 be happie and pursue auth in the best way they can.
